Sending stuff home from Korea

Korean Post is located in English at http://www.koreapost.go.kr/eng/index.jsp

What zone is your country in? Australia is Zone 3

The most important page is the one that where you type in how heavy your letter/parcel is, what country you wish it to be delivered to and it then lists all the services and prices for you.

Upgrading to WordPress 2.4

I host stephenhucker.com at bluehost.com.

One of their best features is SSH access to my domain.
So when I upgrade WordPress. I can simply

1. ssh to my server, then issue the command, –> wget http://wordpress.org/latest.tar.gz

2. which will download the wordpress files to the server, then

If you have shell access to your web server, and are comfortable using console-based tools, you may wish to download WordPress directly to your web server. You can do so using wget , lynx or another console-based web browser, which are valuable if you want to avoid FTPing. Place the package in a directory parallel to your current wordpress directory (like “uploads,” for example). Then, unzip it using: gunzip -c wordpress-2.0.4.tar.gz | tar -xf – or by using: tar -xzvf latest.tar.gz
http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress

3. so issuing the command –> tar -xzvf latest.tar.gz
will expand the archive to a folder called wordpress

4. Copy from the blog folder to wordpress

wp-config.php file;
wp-content folder;
wp-images folder;
wp-includes/languages/ folder–if you are using a language file, do not delete this folder;.
.htaccess file–if you have added custom rules to your .htaccess, do not delete it;
Custom Content and/or Plugins–if you have any images or other custom content or Plugins inside the wp-content folder, do NOT delete them.

5. Rename the blog folder to blog old –> mv blog blogold

6. Rename the wordpress folder to blog –> mv wordpress blog

7. Run the upgrade process

My PC’s

I have two computers, or four if you count my Xbox and a disassembled computer.

I have a Shuttle XPC, which is a small form factor computer. It is the black PC in the pictures.
As you can see it has two SATA hard drives at the top and an internal IDE HD as well as space for an IDE DVD ROM.

Shuttle XPC, Mac Mini, external HD

The Macintosh Mac Mini Core Duo is the white box with the Apple logo on top. Note the size when compared to the CD, pen, and mouse!
It is very small. It does this by using laptop components. ie 2.5″ HD, laptop DVD Burner and virtually zero space inside the case.

The box with the blue front to the right of the Mac min is an external IDE HD (@250GB)
The two boxes between the speaker and the Shuttle PC are an external DVD burner (USB/Firewire) and another external hardrive.

Last day of July

Today is the last day of July so I went out and did some shopping.
I purchased Shimano-SH-SD65-Cycling-Sandals for 88,000 won. In Australia they are $170 !

Thebiggest size in the shop is42/43 (the next biggest being 44/45). My old shimano shoe is size 45. But this shoe being a sandle does not compress the toes as much as a normal cycling shoe would. Cycling shoes are normally narrower then normal sports shoes.

My little toes are a bit crushed in the shoe, but the same thing happens in my other shimano shoe. Anyway time will tell if this was a good purchase decision or not.

I also purchase some wrap around sport sunglasses which has an insert on the nose ridge where you can put a pair of tiny prescription glasses. Total price – less then 100,000 won.

Much cheaper then Australia!

Health

My injured tendon on my right knee is still giving me trouble, a week after I injured it. I can now walk freely (except going down stairs) but I still get pain when I cycle.

I am now sitting at my desk and there is a dull pain coming from the tendon area in my knee. It not bad pain, but I just want to be rid of it, so I can get on with life and enjoy the rest of my stay here in Korea.
