MAD Ride

Just finished the annual MAD ride today.

I wimped out (wise choice) by doing the 60 km option.

Basically it is a 60km ride near Hanging Rock. There is also a 110km option as well as a 60km mountain bike ride.
There were literally hundreds of people on the ride. It was quite enjoyable.

You will have to excuse the lack of elloquence as I went to bed at 2:30 am, got up at 5:30am and it is now 12:35 am the next day!

time for ….zzzzz

PHP

After a long hiatus I have decided to do some serious study about computers again.
To be more precise, a programming language.

Whilst I love Python because the source code looks so good due to its use of white space as a language construct. But I will be going for that other P language PERL PHP

Why?

It is one of the most popular programming languages on the net and is the engine behind popular blogging software like WordPress.
This site is in fact run on WordPress. So a greater knowledge of WordPress will help the site have more functionality, unfortunately it won’t improve my writing.

A good reference for setting up PHP on Mac OS X is http://www.mimoymima.com/resources/071016_apache-osx.php

Virtual PCs

I have used Apple products on and off since the early eighties.
With Apple’s move to the Intel architecture it is now easy to run Windows on Mac’s

Up until recently I have been using Parallels, which was the first virtualization product for OS X.
VMWare the long time heavy weight in the sector took a while to get into the market.

Yesterday I tried their product Vmware Fusion. The Result?

Trash Parallels.jpg bye bye Parallels

Hello VMware – VMWare icon.jpg

I have found it to run faster and to freeze up less the the Parallels virtual PC.

Why? – don’t know, don’t care … it just works.
